June 17, 2007In search of musicWhat is everyone listening to these days, leave recommendations, I need new music! Lately I feel my music has been getting stale, listening to the same things over and over, and hardly hearing anything new. The only new music I hear is radio crap that I hear while briefly driving around in my car (I don't have a CD player!). I can't really even recall the last time I added new music onto my MP3 player. I still haven't taken the time to recover my old music collection from a unconnected hard drive. So in the next week as I try to sort through my music, delete, organize, rename, and create some new play lists, I also want to discover some new music. I recently met a girl through Ben and his WashU connections and she had a bunch of musical suggestions mostly saying I need to check out some the the original rock greats:
Another friend recommended that I check out Muse, which I have found pretty good an interesting. I also created a new music category, which has some of my older posts on music. So please all of you out there write a comment and recommend a band of two for me to give a quick listen to...

March 01, 2007Best Music of 2006It is way late but I now officially know what the best music of 2006 was... Now when people ask me that questions I am prepared... A little above my musical tastes, but always good stuff... Best music of 2006, even though we are well into 2007.

May 21, 2006Red Hot Chili Peppers Stadium ArcadiumI just wanted to make a quick mention that I got the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album, Stadium Arcadium. I am enjoying it quite a bit. I enjoy both discs, and have quite a few songs that I am sure I will be listening to over and over. I got excited about the new album coming out, and listened to all of their old music. It was a good time to go back through some of it, although I still really hate some of their songs, over all I really enjoy the music this band makes.

December 02, 2004and there was the music...Alright to much on the blog has been about stupid worrying and work stuff lately so lets change it up a bit. I am going to post about some of my favorite music that I have been listening to and why I like it. The Future Freaks Me Out (by Motion City Soundtrack): This song i have been into since the summer. I think I like it so much because it talks about fear of the future and what could happen which i have definitely had in my life lately, but it is in a positive attitude. Like, yeah I'm scared, but I am having a good time, and it is going to work out great. "I'm on fire, and now I think I'm ready to bust a move. Check it out I'm rocking steady." Cute without the E (by Taking back Sunday): This song is great it is just fast paced and full of energy I have been kicking it to this tune for almost a year now. Still love it. Also the music video is all fight club style and shows a group of friends acting out scenes and generally messing around, and it makes it look like anyone could just rock it out with some friends and become a rock star. Everyone always has a little bit of a dream of being a rock star, and This song makes me get pumped up and feel like I am a rock star. Lose Yourself (By Eminem): This song has been doing well as my little motivational speaker. I need to keep on track get through the semester and stay focus on everything. This is my one shot to get the job i want the life i want. The song is all about taking that one shot and doing something with it. Making something of your self. Not failing when it comes to those crucial times where you really need to make something happen. "Loose yourself in the music, the moment, you want it, you better never let it go, you only get one shot.... to blow, opportunity comes once in a lifetime" Let's Get Retarded (by Black Eyed Peas): This is possibly the least PC song ever, but that is fine with me, because i know it isn't meant to be hurtful to that community. Anyways, this is currently the ultimate party song. The ultimate cut loose, let loose, get out, have fun, fuck all the worry fuck it all... enjoy the night enjoy the life enjoy your friend enjoy your smiles and let the ever lasting party and fun continue. Not to mention the female lead singer is wicked HOT! Clocks (by Coldplay): This song is just beautiful. When i hear it it makes me thing of the simple beauties of life. The amazing world of nature that surrounds us. The tend moments of love everyone has in their life, walking down the street holding hands with a young love, hugging your family, feeling the air breeze down the back of your throat as you breath mountain air during a hike. It makes me feel small in a good way, thinking that the world is just a bigger and great thing than can ever be completely comprehensible by a person. It shows the struggles of life and the ability to succeed. The pain that can occur in your life, while it is just another thing that makes the whole part of life go round and work. It shows the reason we continue to exist and that we do seek something and have the ability to add something with our lives. We can change the world, and this song shows you that you do have the power to become, "am I a part of the cure, or am I part of the disease. You ARE... You ARE..." We used to be friends (by Dandy Warhols): This song reminds me of some good old days in high school. Some old friends I am not in touch with often that I miss dearly. It also reminds me of lost love which is sad, but when i think about it before I get sad I always get this amazingly warm happy feeling in my heart know and remember how I touched someone, and how the touch my heart and change me forever. Mix Tape (by Brand New): This is a song is about the things I think everyone would like to say to someone they liked, were into, or an ex. All the good and the bad, what when wrong and pointing out some of their flaws. Everyone has flaws, but when your hurt I guess you just want them to know they aren't perfect either... something like that. Also, i think a lot of the lines in the song are appropriate for many girls in todays US population. "I've got a 20 dollar bill that says no one's ever seen you with out make up, your always made up." Letters To God (by Box Car Racer): This song just kinda makes me feel at peace. Like a release of the built up stressed that I don't let out often enough. Also, I think about how it seems so much is moving on and past, when I am not there yet, or I am not ready. "I won't lie, I won't sin, maybe I don't want to go... can't you wait, maybe I don't want to go." I think it is hard at an age where have your friends are settling down and getting married and you have no clue what you want but you know your not ready, to be a parent and such yet. Failure By Design (by Brand New): "This is a lesson in procrastination, I kill myself because I am so frustrated, and every single second that i put it off. Its another moment now that I have to race the clock... Another day late, and one year older. I am failure by design." I think many people understand the procrastination, you get caught up in one part of life and completely let everything fall behind in another then you have to catch up. Jane Says (by Janes Adiction): I guess this one is because I always sit and ponder and wonder why girls go for the assholes, this song is kinda about a girl that is obviously in a bad situation, one she keeps telling herself she will get out of, that she will move on tomorrow. It seems many girls realize they keep dating the wrong kind of guys and keep going back to them... "I'm gonna start tomorrow. I am gone again tomorrow." Otis (by Millencolin): Hard rock and ripping guitar (thats right I said it)... This one pumps me up also. It makes me feel like a rock star again, and you can just hear something in the singers voice like a passion to be understood. For someone to actually hear what he is saying beyond the words. "I love you more than as a friend." My Favorite Accident (by Motion City Soundtrack): Sometimes when something little happens that is insignificant to one person it can really be a big positive change for another. I think the best example of this was that I hadn't liked a girl and found one that was intellectually stimulating as well for a long time and thought i might not ever find a combination like that again, when I dated this girl for a short while, and it showed me that I can really find someone like that and be really interested in them again. It was nice to know their was still women like that out there. She was never really into me and that ended, but it gave me hope, it made me think, yeah there is still someone out there for me. Battlescars (by Ozma): Every person and any group of people that gets into a relationship brings their own baggage. This song reminds you to accept some flaws and love those flaws. You have them, others accept your. Also when your down and out that someone can really be their for you and support you, if you have been their supporting them. "Of all the shooting stars I known. I never felt at ease with any one but you...... Theirs battlescars on my face and my arms, but you still kiss me every day." WonderWall (by Ryan Adams): This is just a great acoustic version of wonder wall. If you have ever dreamed of a heavenly angel of a girl coming to save you from yourself this song has something that will touch you. Also, the loving of someone that might not understand how much they mean to you, "I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now." So maybe that angel is out their for everyone, "Maybe your gonna be the one that saves me, and after all, your my wonder wall." Tonight, Tonight (by Smashing Pumpkins): A fantasy filled dream... A symphony of mystery. This song brings out the creative child within me. Also, it is just inspiring and makes you want to "believe, believe, BELIEVE." Mono (Great Expectations (from soundtrack don't know by who)): A amazing relaxing and soothing song. It is almost hypnotic. It captures a moment in your head beautifully. I don't always even know what I am thinking about while listening to it, but I am mesmerized. Alright that is a nice little round up of my current favorite music to listen to. I know most of it is pretty well know but not all of it is. So maybe you will see something that sounds interesting to you. Post a few of your favorite songs and what they mean to you or what they make you think about. I am sure everyone has some song that they get into or puts them in a certain mood. Well since it is now late and I don't want to be pumped up i will be listening to a few of the slower songs i listed above to calm down into a sleepy like mood. (not all lyrics may be 100% correct...)

October 16, 2003More musicwhile I am making music recommendations i figure i should toss a few more out there. Some stuff people may not have heard of: Rock Funkish: Jump little children. This was one of the opening acts for Howie Day and they were really impressive. First to notice they have an accordion, cello, eukelaly, and a big old bass. Very cool. Oldy but a goodie: I am getting back into g-love and special sauce a bit. they are always good for chill. That is all i can come up with for now. What about you people? Anything a little les heard of that your getting into currently?

Howie Day ConcertTonight i saw howie day (sp?). It was amazing in every way possible. 2 years ago Matt raved so much about this man that i download a few songs. They were good but i never really grasped how impressive. I am sure if others downloaded his songs or bought his CD's they would like them, but you can never truely apprieciate or understand this man and his music until you see him live. It will blow anyone's mind long as they like music. It is really amazing. It was probably one of the best concerts i have gone to in a long time. I am very glad i wasn't busy tonight and I am very glad Matt came all the way from ft fun and invited me to come alond to see this amazing show. He is playing at the gothic in denver tomorrow if your not busy. It adds to all of the levels in which i appreciate music. I dont know how to write a better review than this...

September 20, 2003Gamits concertWell The gamits concert was awesome last night. It was good music, and good fun. Dom and I ran around hitting on and getting hit on by girls. Dom wing manned me really well on this girl i thought was cute, but she turned out to be 17 so i was like, "I am sorry you seem really cool, but i feel creepy hitting on a 17 year old." At the end of the show she came over and gave me a hug. It was nice and cute. There was two other girls we were talking to for awhile that also turned out to be high schooler's so we ran away. Then we talked with a couple college girls and had a good time. The gamits played a bunch of new songs and i guess have a new cd coming out soon. They also played old favorites like sorry song and last of the mullets. I was happy to hear them and moshed as best i could. The problem was this show started at like 7 and went till about 1:30. Seriously there was two bands in the middle where i was just about to go to sleep. It was a long show to be a night show. I got to enjoy my ability to buy over priced drinks at punk shows again. Dom and I shared a $8 dollar long island. It wasn't even that strong. I was pissed about the 8 dollar tab, but i didnt care that much. I also got to see Adventures of Jet (might be spelled wrong). They are really good, imagine The hippos crossed with tom petty (as discribed by dominic). They put on a great show the lead singer/keyboard player has so much energy on stage it is sweet. Very nice to see a man head bang while jamming out on a keyboard.
