Alright another energy drink that tastes different than redbull, unfortunately it tastes like blue cotton candy that has been covered in a sugar coating. Seriously this is far to sweet. No one really wanted to finish it, cause it was so sweet that after awhile it just got to you. The blue cotton candy flavor was truly the defining taste of this drink. As for how pumped up it got me, well it was pretty good, but not better than average... just a little jolt but nothing to get to excited about. So while i was having circus flash backs from my extended sugar high, I began to wonder why so many energy drinks make the mistake of over sweetening. I know that most anything containing caffeine gets a little bitter, but many drinks are just far to sweet, that might be the largest complain I hear from people about energy drinks, that they are all just far to sweet. The other most common complaint being that they taste like vitamins or medicine. Anyways this was very lightly carbonated and didn't hide the alcohol so well because of the soft flavor... It was like mixing vodka with sugar water, so this drink in general should be avoided, unless you really like your sweets sweet.

Posted by Dan at May 16, 2005 08:40 PMWhat's with hiding alcool, and how well such and such energy drink does that and what not ? I see no real reason to do that, unless you want to get someone else drunk without them knowing about it, spike their drink so to say, which is no a very honorable endeavour...
Posted by: Marty Mart at May 17, 2005 08:41 AMThe hiding alcohol is usually good if you want to make strong drinks. Many people mix alcohol because it tastes bad alone. So the hiding isn't like to hide from someone and get them drunk with out their knowledge... It is so you can make strong drinks that taste good, so if you go out partying and clubbing you can have tasty drinks that still get you all drunk. This isnt for everyone, and sometimes you dont want a really strong drink, but if you dont like the taste of alcohol this feature of a drink can be nice.
Posted by: dan "energy" man at May 17, 2005 01:07 PMBeing a bourbon drinker, I guess this doesn't apply to me, but I do see your point. In my opinion, the reasonning behing mixing drinks is to create a unique flavour, rather than try and hide the alcool. For example, a rhum and coke is a unique flavour, that is not quite coke, and not quite pure rhum. You still get a buzz after a few mind you, which is a good thing, especially in Cancun... (drifting away down memory lane...).
Maybe mentionning what alcool to mix with a particular energy drink to produce the most interesting party drinks would be a better idea ?
Posted by: Marty Mart at May 18, 2005 08:57 AMthat is definately true in some cases... suchs as tequila adds a very distinctive flavor to things and a tequila sunrise is far better with tequila in it than virgin... So i agree with this point, but most people tend to drink energy drinks more for the effect than the flavor... but many people do love the taste of Jeger and Redbull... so I guess sometime I should start a drink discussion thread.
Posted by: dan "energy" man at May 19, 2005 04:52 PMThis is a great site. I'm simply writing to tell you that if something is "too" sweet, or "too" sour, you spell that with o's. Thanks.
