I am Dan Mayer and I love energy drinks. I started this site before 2003 just because I loved energy drinks... Since then it has gone through various changes and ended up in this current blog format in May of 2003. I started just buying drinks and putting reviews up because all of my friends knew I had tried them all and were continually asking which to try or which to skip. After the site had been up awhile it got linked up all over the place, and started getting a lot of traffic. After that companies started sending their drinks for me to review and I have just been reviewing anything that comes my way or I happen to spot ever since. I have had drinks from all over the world. Some amazing and tasty and others that would make a dead man vomit. Either way it has been a fun little adventure to be considered an expert and have my reviews put in countless college news papers, been quoted for various industry trade magazines, Investors business daily, and even do some consulting for a few of the energy companies. It has been a fun and wonderful hobby that has allowed me to start and work with many other websites that I help run now. I would like to thank all the companies that supported me by sending me products to review, and all of my readers that have been loyal and emailed me thoughts, comments, and new drinks to review. So thanks to everyone that has made Energy Drink Reviews the number one Energy Drink site on the net.
Peace,
Dan “energy” Man

dude how do u find all of these energy drinks i look everywhere i go and try every thing but i ive only heard of like only of 31 of ur hundreds of drinks listed
Posted by: van at March 11, 2006 04:08 AMEveryone need to try Caballo Negro (Black Horse) this is the best energy drink out on the market. No after taste like the other drinks out there.
Posted by: CARLO at March 11, 2006 07:49 AMGreat site. Is there any way you can sort the drinks by rating, or put up a hall of fame or something? That would be awesome.
Posted by: adesai at March 19, 2006 03:14 PMHi, like your site. I was wondering if there was an Aldi's grocery store in your town. They have a whole bunch of generic food stuffs, and it seems recently they added a generic Red Bull knock off called Red Thunder. As far as I can tell, it tastes pretty close, although I'm not sure if it packs the same punch. I love generic stuff, and Aldi's so it works for me.
I used to work as photographer at this one club, and they had what I think was Red Bull on tap (hand held soda despenser, fountain, or whatever it's called) for mixing. They would give me so many free drinks, I would be up till the next day. I'm not sure where you can get a Redbull fountain, but I think you should look into it. It would be the ultimate cost effective way to buy energy drinks, and would be great for parties.
Good luck!

Hvave you tried Alien Energy? It tastes great and has a hella kick to it. I haven't tried it with alcohol, so I don't know if it mixes alright, but you should try it.
Posted by: Kent at March 19, 2006 08:11 PMHave you tried 5-hour energy (I think)? I have heard it advertised on various "news" programs (i.e. Paul Harvey), but haven't tried it. I found a bottle in a GNC store (General Nutrition Center, a high-priced health suppliments chain). I looked at the label, and it has Nutri-Sweet in it (rules it out for me, sigh). According to the label, you mix 1/2 a bottle in water and drink it rather than the whole bottle.
P.S.
I think that Christyna is very nasty, and bad, and any one who likes her is dumb. ;-)
I'm amazed that you do not have any information on a drink I found a month or so ago. Its called
A.C.T. Stands for advanced cell therapy. A fancy name for energy drink. only 4 gm of sugar and no cafeine. This drink is suppose to revitalize the cells with the nutrients they need to function at maximum performance. If anyone has a comment of would like any information my email and link have been posted. I would be extremely interested to see how my drink stacks up against others.
Have a great day

Dude, you MUST try ATOMIC X energy drink. It is the best tasting energy drink AND it is non carbonated so it goes down smooth. Have you tried it?

Hey, Dan. I was just wondering, is there such thing as a healthy energy drink?
Most energy drinks out there contain ingredients that normally do the same things that a pot of coffee might do. Usually the effects last about the same, a few hours. Is there anything out there that you can honestly say is more healthy than the others? I'd rather know that the energy that my body and mind is feeling is not the after effects of some new way to introduce caffiene and sugar into my bloodstream.
Posted by: Matt at April 3, 2006 02:38 PMDan,
Have you tried Liquid Nitro Energy Drink? check out their site www.nitrobeverages.com. They got prime Time Deion Sanders as their endorser. It's pretty good. Email them for a sample. Keep up the good work.
Posted by: hammer at April 11, 2006 02:57 PMReload - energy drink is very big in Montreal. Dan, you want to try? I'll send you samples, please give me postal address by email, you won't be disapointed !
Posted by: Vince at May 10, 2006 03:24 PMWe would like to send taste test out on an all natural no preservative product that we are developing before we go to market.
Posted by: Jim at May 16, 2006 12:03 PMWith all the caffiene, caffiene supplements, and other various ingredients that give you a caffiene induced rush, isn't almost possible to say that these drinks may not only help the process in keeping you awake, motivated, and possibly even fit... but also may help destroy your liver, heart, and well.. maybe even your colon. Haha, just a thought.
Posted by: Colby at May 22, 2006 04:53 PMI heard somewhere that if you drink lots of energy drinks a day that you could lose patches of your hair. Is this true? My husband drinks between 3-6 energy drinks a day. This can't be good for him, right?

Your site could help students like my nephew in her school term paper. I would be really grateful if you can email me some of it for his use. Thanks and God bless you!
FREEK energy drink is seriously one of the best. Yes, it gives you energy and has lots of caffeine and taurine but more importantly it tastes like real pop. It doesn't have that weird "burp" like taste some of the other energy drinks have. One good thing about it is that if you mix the orange can which is called Maniac and has a tangerine organe manarin flavor with malibu rum and pineapple juice-omg its so good. I don't normally drink but... whatever it's really really good.

Posted by: at November 13, 2006 02:09 PMRhino Two Horns Inc. is about to enter into the US market. As part of the product services, we would like to mention some of the areas which you may not have realized about Rhino Two Horns.
Unlike other energy drinks, Rhino Two Horns is not a stimulant. Rhino Two Horns does not contain caffeine, preservatives, artificial sweeteners or any other artificial products. Rhino Two horns is all natural and its energy is derived from inter-cellular infusion of a blend of natural salts, potassium, fructose and all natural flavors and colors. We therefore stand by our claim to be both all natural and an energy drink.
You will find that many energy drink formulas have products which may be considered harmful or may need to have warning labels placed on them. Red Bull specifically states:
“Red Bull® Energy Drink is labeled with a recommended maximum daily intake of two 250ml cans daily”
Rhino Two Horns makes none of these claims as you may drink as much of the product at any time.
Red Bull also states: “Red Bull is an energy drink. It has not been formulated to deliver re-hydration”.
Rhino Two Horns stands by its claim that is an energy drink that rehydrates as well.

Posted by: jeff at April 30, 2007 06:01 PMwell i think its super cool that you are spreding the word about which energy drinks are good, and which ones not.
I've found a drink, its called FREEK, i live in indiana and ive only seen in in the Gas America stores around here.
it gives zip, and it tastes a lot like bawls but a little more tart.
yo, freek is like crazy, psycho, skitzo, raging. tastes good. boom boom, la la. pour it on my head. i ordered a case of each flav. keeps my drawers up all nite. dance if you wanna. reetjus awritejus.
Posted by: dashstar at May 10, 2007 01:09 PMFREEK is an awesome drink. I tried it a month or so ago and I have to say it's my fave along side with monster. There's a a pizza place two blocks away from my house in PA that sells it and stays open till about three A.M on fridays. It's very convenient, I have to say.
The flavors vary in caffeine concentration, but so far the most potent seems to be Maniac, which has an excellent taste. It's kind of like Bawls, but with a little more kick. It seems that it's building up a strong following based on previous comments. Try it.

Posted by: jeff at June 5, 2007 07:01 PMi love FIXX. i don't consider myself a caffeine junkie so i was a little leery to try it. red bull does nothing for me, but half a bottle of fixx last all day. my house is spotless and i can really get alot done! love the taste!!! it is hard to find but you can order from their web site. i keep asking my local quickie marts to get it in
Posted by: jamie at June 12, 2007 09:12 AMI tried a number of energy drinks and FIXX is by far the most effective one I've ever used. I drink a bottle right before a workout and train like an animal without crashing afterwards. Plus it's non carbonated so it doesn't bother my stomach like those soda versions. The energy literally lasts all day with no crash.

Posted by: skoky at June 17, 2007 11:43 AMYou should try Steaz Energy...it's awesome. It gives you the rush but without the edgy feeling. It's organic, fair trade and has that acai stuff in it that's supposed to be so good. It's got a pretty light flavor too, so it's good for the AM or PM.

Posted by: AMiGO Health Labs: "CHARGE" Energy Drink! CLICK HERE! at September 24, 2007 05:31 PMFREEK is available in Connecticut - around the Hartford area, I still don't see it everywhere. Damn salesmen not doin their jobs, but the orange one is tight as hell - and if you wanna save on calories, the sugar free FREEK has a good flavor to it and you can barely tell the difference.
Posted by: Gregory at October 29, 2007 03:14 PMI have been reviewing all the posts about energy drinks and must say I have a vested interest. I have tried a lot and have found a HEALTHY energy drink from M2C Global or DrinkACT.com out of Dallas. It does not contain the caffeine or sugar of most drinks and provides the energy on a cellular level for quick long lasting results. It can be taken hot or cold. Hot it tasts like a herbal tea and cold it tasts like a fruit punch kind of taste. If you haven't checked it out you can get products direct from the company at cost with no joining or maintance fees. Just buy for yourself wholesale with no obligations. They have other products which are also extremely competitive with other brands as well as their main Energy Drink products. Check it out. It is even safe for diabetics.
Happy New Year to All.
Drinking these energy drinks is not the same as drinking coffee with sugar! The ones I have looked at are loaded with high fructose corn syrup (read up on how unhealthy this weird creation is) and preservatives. Not nearly the same as a cup of organic coffee with pure sugar and organic cream! These drinks are particularly dangerous for young teens who have no better sense than to consume the "coolest" beverages on the market.( much of the time in place of the water that they need!) It makes me mad that these companies don't seem to care about the health of people they are marketing to. We are up against so much in terms of our health! With the polluted air we have no choice but to breath, and the depleted nutrients in our food, it's no wonder that we rank #1 unhealthiest (and fattest- oh, did I mention that high fructose corn syrup is metabolized in the body in a way that retains fat?)country in the world. I hope everyone wises up and chooses to truly feel GOOD, not just wired and "cool".

Posted by: Luddy at January 14, 2008 04:59 PMReally want to know how to get my hands on more FREEK out in NJ/Philly/NYC area. Got a few dozen free cans of it at Dragon*Con in Atlanta and it was AWESOME. Didn't leave me jittery, but kept me going - I kid you not - 21 hours out of 24 per day for four days straight - without feeling worn out, tired, etc. And bonus - they taste fantastic!
I need to get some more! I checked their site, but its all mail-order, and you have to pay with a check or money order - no credit cards (which I live by these days). Ebay, possibly? Any suggestions on stores in the area?
