Amp Energy Overdrive
Amp Energy Overdrive

Active ingredients: Caffeine, Taurine, Guarana, Ginseng, B6, B12
Rating: 7.65 out of 10
Amp energy overdrive, by the looks and tastes of it Mountain Dew red alert just made it to th energy drink game. It pretty much tastes like it's cousin red alert, but has more caffeine. That works. So it is effective to get caffeine in you, it tastes pretty good like a mountain dew should. So yeah I don't give it the highest review because it is a little bit boring. I mean we have had the cherry version of most soda's for a long time, and this is super sweet. So this just doesn't bring anything new my way, yeah it is still good, yeah it doesn't taste like medicine. No it doesn't have an after taste. So if your a big fan of the amp brand or you always really liked red alert, you will like Amp overdrive. If your not a fan of the cherry flavored drinks, you might want to just stick with something else. If you never liked mountain dew this might not be your think. It is a solid offering, but I guess I have to hand it to coke for being a little more creative with their recent full throttle flavors, than Pepsi with a new version of red alert with more caffeine. Oh well another solid offering in the energy drink world that you will be able to find almost anywhere. So give it a shot.

Posted by: Ted at April 11, 2007 06:01 PMloved the taste, but hated the crash
Posted by: tom at May 4, 2007 03:23 PManyone else think it tastes just like gummie bears?
Posted by: Andrew at June 27, 2007 05:07 PMpretty good i've always liked mountain dew so i liked this a lot. but i gotta say i've grown outa this and am getting into rip it, raw dawg, and lost a bit more than this. still i'd take this over full throttle cuz they taste kinda similarly and i got a bigger kick out of this. (energy drink rule #1: if you have two energy drinks for the same price and pretty much the same taste...take the one with more caffeine.)
Posted by: josh t at August 12, 2007 11:44 AMThe AMP overdrive (red) contains alot more then code red in regard to taste and ingredients. If you notice code red which now is Halo game fuel has changed there flavor a bit, lowering the cherry content while upping the base mountain dew flavor.
AMP OVERDRIVE (RED)
it contains MDX5 (Mountain Dew's Secret ingredient), taurine, ginseng, B-vitamins, guarana and maltodextrin.
Its flavor is most comparable to Cherry Sour Patch Kids gummy candy, Or Sour Gummy Bears.
It has more caffeine then most store found energy soda's however it is only mid level when it comes to total caffeine content amongst other energy drinks.
In my opinion it provides a very thirst quenching experience while giving me a pretty instant buzz.
They are addictive at one point i was spending 20 bucks a day on them.
In comparison this drink got me away from the Jolt soda brand.
yea wenever i drink ne amp it doesnt really give me an energy boost lol and i dont get a crash lol its awesome lol but thats prolly cuz i have add lol
Posted by: sierra at January 9, 2008 01:46 PMJust a note, I have a friend who works for the company. The Halo Game Fuel is nothing more than the Code Red and Live Wire mixed together. Nothing fancy added, just the two sodas together, it doesn't even have extra caffiene just what is already in the two.
Posted by: Lori at January 29, 2008 01:03 PMIt is 'code red' not 'red alert'. I haven't tried this one yet but the original Amp is awesome, I've also noticed on the new packaging the "Tall Boy" designation is no longer present.

Posted by: Rachel at February 23, 2008 08:45 PMI just went to Wal-greens and they had one of those little stickers on the freezer glass that showed three new flavors of AMP Energy drink coming soon. However, I can't find a single piece of information on these new flavors and I'm addicted to this stuff. Anyone have any info on this?
Posted by: Dave at February 28, 2008 02:41 PMi have tried 2 of the new ones
AMP Relaunch-Which tastes like the orange version of Mt Dew(i forget the name)
and Elevate-Mixed Berry
