When I first started drinking energy drinks Rockstar was my drink of choice. I looked forward to trying their new energy shot and was pleased that you got more product (+.5 fl oz) then the Red Bull shot at the same price. Bigger and stronger was Rockstar's approach to the energy shot market. It's 2.5 fl oz bottle that boasts no carbs and no sugar but screams 200 mg of caffeine around the top. Little did I know I would come to regret ever breaking the seal on this little guy.

I found the taste to be regretful, it had the DREADED medicinal burn to it and was not masked well. It tasted like a warm, flat Rockstar or like your cough syrup in the medicine cabinet. It is very concentrated similar to the Red Bull shot. If tropical punch is what they were going for then they need to double check that they used the correct artificial flavors next time.

To Rockstar's credit I felt a rise in my heartbeat and energy levels. For about 30 minutes I even felt like I could've swatted homers like A-Rod on the juice. Good kick, but that point is mute if you can't choke it down. So much caffeine sadly goes to waste it seems because it never lasts too long.

Bottom Line- Sometimes I'm amazed how some of these shots get to the market. I mean who is authorizing this shot? Do they actually drink their own product? I couldn't even consume the complete shot, and that's saying a lot because I've never had that problem with a previous beverage before. Bottom line, this one is rough.
