Jolt Cola – The Original Energy Drink

Jolt Cola – The Original Energy Drink
Cost: $2.50 for 24oz
Active ingredients: Caffeine
Rating: 6.5 out of 10
Calories: 300

Jolt Energy Drink.jpg

Jolt was created in 1985 as a refreshing alternative to coffee, a.k.a. The Espresso of Colas. Included on every can and bottle was the slogan “Twice the Caffeine.”

I tried the cola today and thought it was ok, not great, not bad either. I am rating in the energy drink reviews because it really was the first beverage out there with enough caffeine to be considered an energy drink (72mg per serving). It was also one of the first new age beverages.

The energy levels are OK and the taste is OK not as good as real Coca-Cola but OK! Did I mention that I thought it was OK?

Jolt cola mixes well with any alcoholic beverage that mixes well with Coke.

Cintron Sugar Free Citrus Mango Energy Drink

Cintron Sugar Free Citrus Mango Liquid Energy
Cost: $2 16 oz
Active ingredients: B3, B5, B6, B12, Taurine, Caffeine
Rating: 8.12 out of 10
Calories: 0 x 2

Cintron Energy Drink.jpg

As I am slowly parting ways with the duties here on the site, I will still come by once in awhile to make a guest post when ever a energy drink happens to come my way that I haven't yet reviewed. So with that thought I just wanted to share my thoughts on this flavor of Cintron sugar free. I really liked the original Cintron citrus mango and guess what I like this one even better, because I really don't need the calories, but sometimes I need the energy. This drink has a decent kick and has a great taste just like the original version, but with no freaking calories, and I like that a lot. So if you want something that has the citrus orange flavor, but doesn't taste just like another orange crush knock off I really recommend trying this flavor out, either the original or the sugar free version, it just has a really nice unique citrus taste, different from most other citrus energy drinks.

I think the can is kinda boring and lam, but whatever some people get all into the packaging as you can see by a recent news report, apparently a study found that in the energy drink market stylized cans and marketing sold better than discounted or sale items. I find that odd because I am usually looking for the best bang for my buck. I guess if you got the money burn through it, so what I am saying is that Cintron should possibly look at their can designs. I also really like places with four packs on energy drinks, the nice Monster 4 packs are a great example of this. So take some time rework that stuff and then just start getting samples of this flavor out, because it is on dang tasty energy drink.

Another Path to Profits: Riding Coca-Cola's Coattails - Motley Fool

More ways to profit from the rapidly-growing energy drink category.
From the article:
Established in 1886, Coca-Cola has one of the longest legacies of any American company and one of the strongest brands. Driven by competition from PepsiCo's (NYSE: PEP) Pepsi, Coca-Cola made a short-lived change to its formula in the mid-1980s, but New Coke was a flop. Fortunately, the company's ventures into more flavors of its core soft drink as well as sports and energy drinks, teas, juices, and bottled water have been more successful over the years. With increased efficiencies in its worldwide distribution of its concentrated syrups and drinks, Coca-Cola has converted 6.3% annual revenue growth into 9.2% growth in net income over the past 18 years...

Red Bull Sugar Free Energy Drink.jpg

Red Bull is surely the king of energy drinks and will always be, who can deny the impact that this drink has had on the beverage industry. Red Bull single handedly created the fastest growing category in beverage. For that reason I have to be somewhat objective about this because this product obviously gets a ten out of ten for its success and execution and that could lead to a review that is based on size of brand and not quality. For instance there are a lot more Chryslers sold every year than Ferraris but we all know which the better car is.

For taste I would have to say I prefer some other products (Rock Star, Go Girl, Archers Farm) but for energy this is amongst the best. It works every time without fail, I drink a Red Bull and I get wings, just as they promise. I also feel really cool when I have a Red Bull in my hand (Like wearing Nike or Oakley).

This little champion of a drink is now available in 12oz cans for $3. It

Packaging of alcohol-energy beverages adds to concerns about young ... - Allentown Morning Call

Proper labeling is vitally important to the alcohol/energy beverage category.
From the article:
The beverages come in cans that look more like the non-alcoholic high-caffeine drinks that are particularly popular on college campuses than they do beer. Energy drinks (the kind that do not contain alcohol) constitute a $3 billion annual industry in this country. Being highly caffeinated presents its own health problems. It is mildly addictive and can be a threat to the cardiovascular systems of some people. But, young people soon enough made it more complicated; they started using Red Bull and the like as mixers with alcohol. This includes rum, vodka ... even champagne...

Considering that it's 3am and I'm still going strong this energy drink must have quite a kick. Actually it has 80mg/8oz serving but I'm up all the same. This energy drink from has a good pomegranate flavor with a huge amount of sweetness. Good in a fruit punch with a combination of vodka, tequila etc. Over all, of the energy juices that I've tasted, this one is about pretty good, not as good as some of my favorites but way better than the way energy drinks used to taste. If you are looking for a little more of a natural product this one is worth a shot.
