Spitalfield Show

Last night was so much fun! It started when Dominic and I headed down to Rock Island for a show. We weren't expecting much more than having a regular good time. Even that hope started dwindling when the line to the show wrapped around the block with 13-16 year olds. Luckily we made it in and headed straight for the bar. At first we were the only two people in the bar then there were a few more. We started talking to the other guys and it turns out they're all with the bands. A couple of tour managers, lead singer for Hidden in Plain View, the drummer and the bassist for Spitalfield. I was impressed by Hidden in Plain View's lead singer Joe as he humbly spoke with us about music and stealing (downloading) it. He's a really down to earth guy with a small ego. Most of the night we hung out with Mike, tour manager for Spitalfield. He was also down to earth and very conversational. He gave us a couple of CD's and in return I will hook him up with his favorite Aveda products. We also met a very nice couple from Chicago who knew the bands. Drew and Maggie just moved to Denver and are looking for friends so hopefully we will be hanging out with them soon.

The night was amazing, the bands put on an awesome show, and all the new people we met were great.

I leave you with the pictures of the fun night you missed out on...

Russian Ruckus Continued

Dominic and I just ran into Victoria and Daniel. They were telling us that Daniel actually called the police before Dominic did because he couldnt control Vladmir. When the cops got there they quickly handcuffed wasted Vladmir then turned to Daniel. He tries to tell them he's the one who called the police then they threw him down and beat him up. As we were outside talking about how fucked up it all was when another neighbor came out. The other guy says his girlfriend and a friend saw everything because they're on the first floor. The guy says his girlfriend was really shaken up because the cops were beating this guy who hadnt done anything to deserve it. She tried to ask the cops why they were beating him up since he was lying on the ground face down. The cops yelled at her and told her if she didnt go inside she'd be arrested too. I am so glad there are eyewitnesses to this incredible injustice. The only thing is I think she's a little afraid to say anything because if the cops aren't fired they'll be angry and still have power. These officers obviously arent the brightest or the most moral guys. So we hope that these witnesses will have the guts to stand up for what is right. And at the very least I hope that Daniel and Victoria get their one thousand dollars they paid to bail him out.

Fuck the police. (am i allowed to say that on here?)

The Road Ahead

So it turns out the road of life can be pretty bumpy. It can take sharp and unexpected turns. Other times it can be a peaceful scenic drive. I dont know what the road ahead has in store but I do know that having Dominic to share the drive with makes it alot easier.

Dominic, thanks for driving with me.

Russian Ruckus

If you missed the rowdy russians saturday night i bet you're cryin' your eyes out (not!).

In celebration of our new little home in westminster, dom and i had some friends over. there was good food, good booze and fun. then our new neighbors came around the corner to see what all the fun was about. we said "hi, new neighbors! we dont know you but come over and join in the fun!" the more the merrier, right? WRONG!

Big russian, Vladmir had a little too much vodka which apparently makes him violent. He started getting out of control so, Victoria asked her boyfriend (Daniel) to take Vladmir home. Then after a short while Violent Vladmir returned. He banged on the door. She said ignore him. He banged more. Ignore him. Silence. Then Vladmir busted through the window! Victoria says to call the police because he's crazy. Dominic calls 911. 45 seconds later we see the police flashlights. There's a scuffle. The police come to tell us they're taking the guy in. Only they've got the wrong guy, sort of. They tell us Vladmir is pretty wasted so they're taking him to detox but Daniel is going to jail. Why is Daniel going to jail? They say he resisted arrest. We explain that Daniel was only trying to help and that Vladmir had been the one we called the police on. They didnt want to hear it. I have my speculations as to what happened. But now it is the police's word against Daniel's. If only someone had video taped it ala Rodney King.

What's the lesson to be learned here? Dominic and Nicole shouldnt trust everyone, especially Rowdy Russians.

The Opportunivores

In all of today's glorious beauty I decided to have my lunch in a park in Boulder. Me and my wild oats sandwich found a lovely seat in the grass next to the creek inbetween some crunchy boulderites. As I sat there enjoying my yummy lunch, the perfect weather, and the serene scenery I wondered if these people around me were homeless or just homely boulderites. One guy was passed out, noticably dirty and had a large bag that I imagine contained his home. The others were a group of three twenty-somethings who were just clean enough to leave me wondering. I had an untouched half of a sandwich I wanted to give them but didn't know if they'd be offended. Just then I hear one of them mention being very hungry and only having fifty cents. So I ask him if he wants my delicious sandwich. I warn him it's turkey so he may not want it if he's vegetarian. The girl says, "of course we'll take your sandwich, we're not vegetarians, we're opportunivores we take anything we can get." So the opportunivores excitedly ate the sandwich, I dont think I've ever seen anyone more happy to eat someone's leftovers.

who would have thought half a sandwich could create beauty?

My First Ticket

I suppose my luck has been running out since I got my driver's license. With all the driving (and speeding) I do this was inevitable. However, I always imagined it would be more intimate. He pulls me over, tells me I've been bad. We have a little back and forth and then he gives it to me. Sadly, my first was much different. There was no eye contact to be made, no conversation, no intimacy. Instead, I get a letter in the mail saying we took a picture of you going 11 miles an hour over, send us money. The good news is that photo tickets apparently do not show up on your record, meaning the insurance wont find out. So in the end the photo ticket was a better deal, even in its lack of intimacy.

Murder on the 63rd floor

Recently I've had a stretch of insomnia accompanied by really screwed up dreams when i do sleep. If you really want into my disturbing brain read on...

Finally asleep I begin to dream. Dominic and I live in New York City in a highrise apartment. I get home to find Dominic acting wierd.
me: "how was your day, honey?"
dom: "good"
me: "what's wrong? you're acting weird"
dom: "i have to tell you something. sit down."
we sit on the sofa. dominic gets very serious
dom: "i accidentally killed the little boy down the hall"
me: "what the fuck did you just say?!"
dom: "i dont know how it happened it was an accident. we were talking and then i accidentally choked him, but i didnt mean to squeeze that hard and then he was dead. you have to help me. if they find out it was me i'll go to jail for life and i'll never be with you again. can you help me?"
me (feeling very nauseous): "how the hell do you accidentally kill a kid with your hands around his neck? how would you like it if someone accidentally strangled your little boy?"
dom: "it was an accident! are you going to help me or not? You have to decide now someone is coming"
Will truman from Will and Grace bursts into the apartment, he's also a tennant in the building.
Will pointing angrily at dom: "you killed that poor little boy, you asshole, why would you do that? this is a nice place to live. I'm a lawyer and i know how to put you away for a long time."
me: "what are you talking about? what boy? We just got home, did something happen in the building?"
dom: "yeah we've been gone allday, whats going on? Oh by the way you're not a criminal attorney so murder isnt your area of expertise"
Will: "oh yeah you're right"
will shrugs his shoulders and leaves
Dominic and I start discussing alibis. And come up with a good one. However, I'm still unsure if i should help him. My thoughts run rampant...He killed a kid. But I love him. I dont want him to go to jail but he did something really wrong. I already lied to someone for him so now i'm an accomplice. If we get away with it will we ever be the same? Will we always remember the day he killed that kid? I wish he hadnt done this, I just want things to be normal, like they were before he murdered someone. Wait I love him and all i care about is being with him forever of cours we can get through this. Or can we?

Finally I wake up very stressed from my dream and it's been haunting me ever since. I have some ideas as to why my brain put this together but I really didnt need to have such a stressful and disturbing dream to get it. Stupid subconcious.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Well, things finally slowed down just enough to allow me to go to a movie. Not any movie but quite possibly the movie of the year. When I heard Tim Burton and Johnny Depp were going to team up to remake Charlie and the Chocolate Factory I got so excited I almost peed my pants. If you haven't seen this movie yet run out and see it the first chance you get. Depp's performance as Willy Wonka was wonderfully wierd and absolutely perfect. Sorry Gene Wilder but Johnny Depp did a better job. By Depp's second line I was laughing so hard I thought I'd cry. Tim Burton didn't just remake an old movie he recreated it. He told the story better than the first guy and of course Burton's artistic touch made for some interesting and beautiful imagary. Now i shall wait for the dvd to hit the shelves.
